The automation component helps to keep manufacturing costs because it significantly reduces the production overheads.

To achieve high-output product designs with tight tolerance demands a repeatable, consistent process. By repeatedly employing the same mold, injection molding helps ensure consistent quality. Different materials can be combined when other effects or properties are desired.

Compared to other molding methods, injection molding is high-speed. The high production output rate also contributes to making the technique cost-effective and more efficient. The production speed is determined by the size and complexity of the mold. Per cycle time, the rates can range between 15-120 seconds.

With the right approach and tool design, injection molding can produce highly detailed, complex parts in large volume without deviating from the original design. Specialization becomes critical if the settings, specifications, and steps are to be accurately developed and documented to ensure the creation of repeatable and tightly controlled manufacturing processes.

In plastic injection molding, the options are even broader than available to other molding processes, as you can use fillers in the molds. Fillers help to reduce the density of the plastic material as it’s being molded. They also add greater strength to the finished part, which is useful when they need to be more robust and durable.
